If you have devices that can transmit medical readings back to your doctor, such as remote stethoscope or blood pressure cuff, there will be more that the doctor can do remotely.
How does a secure video appointment work?
The secure person-to-person video link is HIPAA compliant as required for health consultations within New Zealand. You will be sent a link and a reminder a few minutes prior to your appointment time. You will click on this link and the doctor will initiate the consultation at the time of your appointment. You will talk with your doctor using your hand-held device or computer. The doctor will assess your condition, provide diagnosis if appropriate, and suggest treatment (which may include prescriptions, and/or referrals, education, handouts etc). Your clinical notes and all aspects relating to this consultation will be available at the completion of your consultation in your Health365 patient portal.
Can anyone make an appointment?
Yes. Once you are signed up, you will be able to make an appointment at any time by clicking on the “book appointment” button and following the simple steps. To benefit form the subsidised rates we recommend you register with Rust Ave Medical Centre. You will be prompted to select information about your symptoms and how long you’ve had them. This information goes to the doctor so you can get the most out of your consultation.
What is a patient portal?
When you are registered with the practice, you can choose to be sent a link to access your own patient portal. Through this you will be able to see a record of your consultations, your results and all other aspects relating to your interactions with Rust Ave Medical Centre. The patient portal is separate to this booking system, and a link is only sent after identification has been verified, and patient portal requested.

Once you have booked an appointment and completed the details required for that appointment, you will be asked to confirm your appointment. The price for the basic consultation will be displayed at this time. You will then make your payment through the secure payment system. A receipt of your payment will be available in your Health365 patient portal.
Are there any other charges?
There will be a charge for referrals or letters that are required that can not be completed within the allocated appointment time. You will be informed of this at the time and the charge will go on to your practice account for the next time you come in.
When you have an in-person consultation, if you receive extra services to the basic consultation, there may be extra charges. Your health professional will inform you of these prior to offering these extra services, and the charges will be displayed in their waiting room.
How do I cancel an appointment?
Once you have completed your booking there is a “cancel appointment button” in red on your login. You can cancel your appointment at any time. If you cancel within two hours of your appointment time, you will be charged a late cancellation fee of $10.
How do I fill a prescription?
Your prescription will be sent to your selected pharmacy ready for you to collect at your convenience.
What if I need restricted drugs?
It is our policy that the doctors are unable to prescribe any highly addictive or restricted drugs for the first time, when having a video consultation. You will be advised to make an appointment with your doctor in person if these are identified as a need during the course of your video consultation.
Connectivity Issues & Concerns
What if I don't have good broadband reception at home?
Your video consultation can work on mobile phone data or via broadband connection, and can be accessed through your computer or hand held devices. At the time of booking your consultation (prior to payment and confirmation) there is an internet variable bar that indicates if your internet strength is adequate to complete a video consultation. Green indicates good, red indicates that you will need to find another location to have your consultation.
If the doctor deems that poor connectivity resulted in an ineffective consultation, you will be given a discount code to cover the cost of a future consultation.
What devices is this app available on?
The app (coming soon) will be available on Apple and Android devices, or via our website from any device. The Apps are free to download.
